U-9 Program (7 & 8 Year Olds)

The U-9 Community Co-Ed Hockey program provides a structured environment for young players of varying skill levels. Here's what you need to know:

  • Skill Levels: Teams for all skill levels of play.
  • Team Formation: Tiered teams of 18 to 20 like skilled players are formed after evaluations in September.
  • Game Structure: Games are half-ice for the first portion of the season and held throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas as part of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL). Early in the new year, teams are able to transition to full-ice games.
  • Practice Locations: Practices are held within Strathcona County and Tofield Arena.
  • Schedule: Includes 20 games and about 40-50 both 1/2 and full ice practices from September to March, with games exclusively on weekends.
  • Game Officials: Games are officiated by referees.
  • Development: Each team will receive 4 powerskating sessions, off-ice stick handling instruction, breakfast club skills sessions and U-9 specific goaltender training.

U-11 Program (9 & 10 Year Olds)

The U-11 Community Co-Ed Hockey program provides a tiered structure for players with varying levels of experience to develop their skills. Here are the key details:

  • Skill Levels: Suitable for players with or without prior U-7 or U-9 experience.
  • Team Formation: Tiered teams of 15 to 17 like skilled players are created after evaluations in September.
  • Game Structure: Games are held throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area as part of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL). Games last 1 hour, are officiated by referees, and scores are kept.
  • Practice Locations: Practices are held within Strathcona County and Tofield Arena.
  • Schedule: Includes 20+ games and 40-50 practices from September to March. Games & practices can be any day of the week.
  • Playoffs: U-11 teams participate in playoffs in March.
  • Development: Each team will receive 4 powerskating sessions, off-ice stick handling instruction, breakfast club skills sessions, specialty shooting & scoring clinics and U-11 specific goaltender training.

  • Practice Locations: Practices are held within Strathcona County and Tofield Arena.
  • Schedule: Includes 20+ games and 40-50 practices from September to March. Games & practices can be any day of the week.
  • Playoffs: U-13 teams participate in playoffs in March.
  • Development: Each team will receive 3 powerskating sessions, breakfast club skills sessions, specialty shooting & scoring clinics and U-13 specific goaltender training.

U-15 Program (13 & 14 Year Olds)

The U-15 Community Co-Ed Hockey program provides a tiered structure for players of varying experience levels. Here are the important details:

  • Skill Levels: Suitable for players off all abilities.
  • Team Formation: Tiered teams of 16 to 20 like skilled players are created after evaluations.
  • Game Structure: Games are held throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area as part of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL). Games last 1.5 hours, are officiated by referees, and scores are kept.
  • Practice Locations: Practices are held within Strathcona County and Tofield Arena.
  • Schedule: Includes 20+ games and 40-50 practices from September to March. Teams receive a minimum of 1 set practice/week plus a 2nd rotating practice and games can be any day of the week
  • Playoffs: U-15 teams participate in playoffs in March.
  • Development: Players are welcome to attend breakfast club skills sessions, specialty shooting & scoring clinics and U-15 specific goaltender training.

U-18 Program (15, 16 & 17 Year Olds)

The U-18 Community Co-Ed Hockey program offers a tiered structure for players of varying experience levels. Here are the key details:

  • Skill Levels: Suitable for players of all abilities.
  • Team Formation: Tiered teams of 16 to 20 like skilled players are created after evaluations.
  • Game Structure: Games are held throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area as part of the Edmonton Federation Hockey League (EFHL). Games last 2.25 hours, are officiated by referees, and scores are kept.
  • Practice Locations: Practices are held within Strathcona County and Tofield Arena
  • Schedule: Includes 20+ games and 40-50 practices from September to March. Teams receive a minimum of 1 set practice/week and a 2nd rotating practice and games can be any day of the week.
  • Playoffs: U-18 teams participate in playoffs in March.
